GROWashington-Aroostook Consortium

GROWashington-Aroostook will be guided by a Consortium representing residents and organizations in Washington and Aroostook Counties.  Each Consortium member brings specific knowledge and perspective to the planning process including expertise in transportation, workforce and economic development, housing, infrastructure and facilities investment, GIS mapping, and emerging economies in alternative energy. 

The purpose of the consortium is to oversee the development of a regional plan that weaves together existing plans and strategies throughout the region to foster economic prosperity. The Consortium will also solicit significant publc input and involvement in the development of a regional vision that identifies implementable actions and projects. 

Leadership

The Consortium will be lead by a 4 person Steering Committee who is responsible for prioritizing work activities, participating in the selection of consultants, supporting publc involvement, and guiding staff from multiple agencies. Consortium members commit to the regional planning process by signing the Consortium Agreement and will be reaching out to many partners to assist in specific work plan components .  These will include (but not be limited to):

The Maine Department of Transportation, Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, Maine Department of Labor, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, regional transportation planning organizations (RPOs), creative economy groups, Universities/Colleges, Aroostook Partnership for Progress, Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development, Housing Authorities, Agencies on Aging, Cooperative Extension Services.
