Washington County Food System Meetings

Five public meetings were held throughout Washington County during April and May of 2013 to discuss our regional food system. Download invitation here.

Meeting format and agenda included:

In addition the audience was polled at each meeting to determine who was in the audience (producers, distributors, processors, consumers, lenders, etc.), what educational needs they have, and the most significant issues they face in the growth of the food system.

Audience polls and meeting notes from each meeting around the county are posted below. A summary of audience polling from all meetings is merged to create a complete representation of county-wide input. DOWNLOAD merged summary of all audience input here.

For more detail on the Food System outreach meetings please contact Judy East of the Washington County Council of Governments or Regina Grabrovac of Washington County: One Community.

Under-represented sectors in the food system meetings included financial lenders, large agri-producers, fishermen, distributors, processors, retailers, and institutional purchasers. Therefore Farm to School Coordinator Regina Grabrovac conducted several follow up interviews with large producers and insitutional purchasers in an attempt to fill in our knowledge gap.
